Mackinaw City senior girls basketball player Kerry-Ann Ming was voted by readers as the Cheboygan Daily Tribune’s high school sports athlete of the week for Feb. 16-21.
Ming won this week’s poll by capturing 50.6 percent of the vote, while Pellston senior Brenna Willis was second with 27.52 percent of the vote. The poll opened on Monday and closed on Thursday night.
Here were this week’s nominees:
Jacob Pluszczynski, Cheboygan Boys Bowling – Finished second in an MHSAA Division 3 individual regional and qualified for the state finals.
Avery Enos, Inland Lakes Wrestling – Won a Division 4 regional title and qualified for states.
Kerry-Ann Ming, Mackinaw City Girls Basketball – Tallied 10 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and three steals against Harbor Light.
Maya Shimel, Onaway Girls Basketball – Scored nine points against Burt Lake NMCA.
Breanna Willis, Pellston Girls Basketball – Recorded 10 points against Mackinaw City.
Ariel Tucker, Burt Lake NMCA Girls Basketball – Had 16 points and five rebounds in the Northern Lakes Conference title game against Ellsworth.
