UP sees up to 2 feet of snow. Here's how much more is expected

Snow has already accumulated up to 2 feet in portions of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula on Dec. 29 as a winter storm moves through the state, but more is on the way for many in Michigan.

As of Monday morning, Dec. 29, the U.P. has seen heavy snow with Champion, a city located in Marquette County, west of Marquette, where 24 inches had fallen by 7 a.m., according to the National Weather Service local storm reports website. Numerous other locations have reported 5 to 12 inches of snow.

The snowstorm has already caused more than 112,000 power outages across Michigan.

More snow is expected to fall throughout Monday. The heaviest snow accumulations are expected in the eastern U.P. and the northwest Lower Peninsula. Officials expect the storm to taper off by Tuesday, Dec. 30.

The heavy 24-hour snowfall and 60 mph wind gusts have prompted a blizzard warning for most of the U.P., and a winter storm warning for the eastern and western U.P., and the Lower Peninsula’s snowbelt.

As snow continues to pile up, here’s a city-by-city 24-hour snow outlook for Michigan:
