GENOA TWP. — Brunch Berry, a new family-run restaurant from the owners of Joseph’s Brunch House in Northville, aims to open May 1 in Genoa Township’s Country Corners.
Brunch Berry is under construction at 4144 E. Grand River Ave. The project will combine two storefronts, including the former StateSide Deli.
Husband-and-wife duo Mario and Katarina Berisaj will own the restaurant with Nik and Viki Berisaj. Mario, who has 25 years of experience in the industry, will also serve as chef.
The Berisajs already run Joseph’s Brunch House, which recently rebranded from Joseph’s Coney Island. Mario said many customers from Howell already travel to the restaurant in Northville, signifying a need for more brunch options closer to home.
“I can’t wait,” Mario said. “It’s the best feeling (because) my dream (is) to open another location.”
The menu will include crepes, pancakes, waffles, parfaits, salads, soups and smoked salmon dishes, among other items.
“I’m picturing this place will have a line out the door,” Mario said.
“Not to toot our own horn, but once you eat this food — it’s unreal,” Katarina added.
The couple spent more than a year looking for the right location before landing in Country Corners. They’ve gutted the former storefronts and installed new flooring, lighting, bathrooms and kitchen equipment.
“We didn’t think twice,” Mario said.
The restaurant will have room for 70 dine-in customers and operate daily 7 a.m.- 3 p.m.
