Temperance has a new 11-year-old entrepreneur.
Elijah Lambert is taking his lemonade stand to his neighbor’s doors in the Crosscreek Apartments community, utilizing his sister’s little red wagon. He pulls around lemonade, sports drinks, Kool Aid, and snacks, only charging 50 cents per item.
“If I sell them for a dollar, I’ve heard from my friend selling it for a dollar… it doesn’t go too good,” he explained.
On his first day, July 19, he made $40 and is hoping to make more. According to his mother, Alicia Lambert, Elijah isn’t saving up for anything in particular, just making sure he has money if he needs it.
“When he puts his mind to something, he achieves it every single time,” she said.
The Lamberts’ home is out of the way in their neighborhood, meaning not as many people would come to them. So, Elijah decided to walk around the neighborhood a few hours a day to bring refreshments to them instead.
“You don’t really see many kids doing that anymore these days,” said customer Bob Head. “I mean, back when we were kids, a lot of kids did that, shovel snow and mow lawns, but this is awesome.”
He makes the lemonade using Crystal Light packets and pays for everything himself, obtaining his merchandise from the local dollar store.
