A 19-year-old man was arrested following a distrubance at a Monroe park and allegedly fleeing police twice.
On Friday, Oct. 3, at 5:58 p.m., central dispatch received reports of a fight involving a knife at Father Cairns Park on South Roessler Street. An on-duty police officer was present at the park for an event and responded to the incident after hearing shouting from the basketball court.
According to the Monroe Public Safety Department, Logan Ferris fled on foot, leading the officer on a chase that extended on to the railroad track and throughout several private residences and businesses in the area.
More officers arrived on the scene and a perimeter was established. Ferris was ultimately tasered and apprehended in the 1200 block of Union Street. Officers transported the suspect to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.
Once medically treated and cleared by the hospital, Ferris was escorted out of the hospital in handcuffs. He broke free from the officers and fled on foot, but was apprehended again, police said. He was then lodged in the Monroe County Jail on several charges, including creating a disturbance, resisting and obstructing, and assaulting a police officer.
He was arraigned on Saturday, Oct. 4, on three counts of resisting and obstructing, and is set to be arraigned today, Oct. 6, on one count of illegal tobacco possession and carrying of a weapon with unlawful intent, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office records division.
His bond is set at $5,100.
