Suspect in Frenchtown Twp. hit-and-run arrested

FRENCHTOWN TWP, MI — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect in a hit-and-run serious injuring crash originally reported on Saturday, June 21, at 9:44 p.m.

Through investigations conducted by the Uniformed Services Division and Traffic Services Division, they identified a suspect, and on Monday, June 23, search warrants were authored and served on a residence in the 5000 block of North Stoney Creek Road in Frenchtown Township.

Inside the residence, the 36-year-old suspect was located and taken into custody. Inside the property’s unattached garage, a damaged 2009 blue Ford Fusion was located.

According to preliminary investigation, Conny Cosby and Anthony Keister, both 40 and from Monroe, were walking northbound on North Dixie Highway crossing the roadway when they were hit by a northeast blue, four-door, Ford sedan. Cosby came to rest in the center turn lane and Keister came to rest in the northeast lane of travel.

Cosby and Keister were transported to Corewell Health Trenton Hospital in Trenton, where they were listed in critical condition as of Sunday morning.

It was reported that the operator of the sedan was driving erratically prior to the crash.

The suspect was transported to the Monroe County Jail, where he was lodged on two counts of failing to identify leaving the scene of an injury crash.
