Howell murder suspect admitted for mental treatment after six months

A local man found incompetent to stand trial has been admitted for treatment at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry.

Christopher Michael Beall, 36, of Howell, faces one felony charge of open murder in connection with the death of his 57-year-old roommate in November 2024. The victim’s identity has not been released.

According to court records, Beall was found incompetent to stand trial, but recoverable, during a review hearing in October.

During a separate review hearing Dec. 11, Judge Suzanne Geddis was informed Beall hadn’t yet received the medication and treatment required to bring him back to competency, due to a lack of available beds at the center.

Geddis was informed April 9 that Beall has been admitted two weeks before. His next hearing is scheduled for June 25.

What happened in November 2024?

According to a news release from the Michigan State Police, troopers were dispatched around 1 a.m. Nov. 15, 2024, to a home on Sargent Road near Fowlerville after one of the residents called 911 — saying he heard an argument between two roommates who lived in the basement.

When the resident went to check on the roommates, he found the victim lying on the floor with fatal injuries. Beall had allegedly fled. He was captured after a resident on Milett Road called 911 around 2:25 a.m. to report someone pounding at their door.
