A suspect was fatally shot by Michigan State Police troopers Thursday night in Waterford Township, officials said.
The incident happened at about 9:35 p.m., state police said on X.
“Metro South troopers were involved in an officer-involved shooting,” authorities said. “The suspect is deceased, and there is no danger to the public. Information will follow as it becomes available.”
Officials said the shooting is under investigation.
It is the most recent officer-involved shooting in Michigan.
Last week, Cass County sheriff’s deputies fatally shot a man after he allegedly fled from an assault investigation and a burning home.
In April, a Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a suspect who police say was armed with a knife.
Also, state police shot and wounded a 19-year-old last month after he struck another vehicle during a car chase.
