“Survivor” season 50 premieres Wednesday, Feb. 25, and the show will rely on its fans to help determine how the game will go.
The three-hour long introduction to “Survivor,” season 50 airs at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, and will be available to watch live on Paramount+ Premium.
Season 50 is teed up to be nostalgic with 24 returning players, including three winners: season 49 champion Savannah Louis; season 48 champion Kyle Fraser, who graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 2021; and season 45 champion Dee Valladares.
This season takes on a unique theme: “In the Hands of the Fans,” meaning fans will determine aspects of the games.
According to the Survivor Wiki website, fans were able to vote on a variety of things, including whether to give tribes camp supplies or make them earn them; use idols or not, give teams rice or make them earn the food; and whether to keep the final four fire-making challenge or lose it; as well as other potential plot points.
Players have been divided up into three tribes — Cila, Kalo and Vatu — with one past champion on each tribe. The castaways once again will compete for the $1 million prize in Fiji, located in the south Pacific Ocean, northeast of New Zealand.
Celebrities like YouTuber MrBeast and singer-songwriter Billie Eilish are also expected to make appearances to stir things up.
After this week, episodes will air weekly on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
“Survivor,” first aired in 2000 and was set in Pulau Tiga, Borneo, located in the South China Sea. Since then, the show has had numerous themes including “All-Stars,” “Edge of Extinction,” Heroes v Villains,” “Brains v Brawn” and more.
