“Individuals who choose to get behind the wheel after drinking pose a significant risk to public safety,” MSP Lt. Ashley Miller said. “These incidents emphasize the importance of responsible decision-making and the ongoing need for enforcement. We are grateful no one was injured during these encounters, and our troopers remain committed to proactive patrols and continued enforcement efforts to combat impaired driving.”

Berlin was initially arrested on May 6, when troopers from the Gaylord MSP Post were dispatched U.S. 31, near Litzner Road in Carp Lake Township, after a reported erratic driver.

Troopers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle violation. Troopers believed Berlin was intoxicated and arrested her.

The following day, at about 5 p.m. May 7, troopers were dispatched to U.S. 31 near Ball Road in McKinley Township after a crash in which the at-fault driver fled the scene.

Troopers located the suspect vehicle at the Pellston General Store and conducted a “roadside investigation.” The driver was identified as Berlin. She was again arrested for drunken driving and lodged in the Emmet County Jail.

Bond was set at $2,000 cash or surety at her arraignement. Berlin’s next court appearance is 2 p.m. June 8.
