Phoenix Theatres at the Mall of Monroe started a 36-hour screening “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” Thursday, July 30, drawing around 500 people past midnight.
“(I’ve been looking forward to this) for the past week, I’d say,” said Brian Owlett, who was in line to get tickets for the 5:20 p.m. showing.
“I feel like a big group of friends could do it,” said Sadie Vincent, who had come to see the movie around the same time. “I can see a big group of friends going to see it late at night.”
The replay marathon started at noon on Thursday. That day, the movie drew a total audience of 2,500, with 2,100 in presales as of Friday morning, July 31.
“These two would probably stay the whole 36 hours if they could,” said Rhonda Collins, who was accompanying Meadow Paolino and Amaya Smith, both of whom were wearing Spider-Man shirts and said they were big fans of the character. They came to see the movie around 5:45 p.m.
“I think it just, it goes to show the impact of this character on how important it is to so many people that it’s so popular,” said Joel Gilim, who wore a Spider-Man t-shirt and came to see the movie around 5:50 p.m.
