Spartans star PG Jeremy Fears Jr. included on watch list for national award

The Spartans’ floor general is considered one of 10 candidates for a prestigious award at the midway mark of the season.

The mid-season list for the Bob Cousy Award was released on Monday, and Michigan State star point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. was included. The mid-season list included 10 candidates, with the award annually handed out to the best point guard in the country.

Fears is having his best season yet as a Spartan, averaging career bests in points (14.9) and assists (8.8). He has recently exploded offensively, averaging just under 20 points per game in the Spartans’ last 10 games — including 29 points in a narrow win over Rutgers and 31 points in a loss against Michigan last week.

Fears will need to continue to be a dominant player for the Spartans if they are going to make a run in March. If he does that, there’s a solid chance he’ll be adding some individual hardware to his trophy case.
