The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office said in a Friday news release it was requested to assist Colon police in apprehending a “dangerous and violent” person about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14.
The suspect had allegedly made several threats to residents in the area of Dallas and First streets and had a violent history.
The St. Joseph County Special Response Team was called to the scene, and the suspect was located and arrested. Charges of resisting and obstructing and witness intimidation were issued.
During the arrest of the primary suspect, a second suspect interfered with officers and attemptedto disarm an officer, according to the sheriff’s office.
The second suspect was arrested, and charges have been issued for resisting and obstructing, and attempt to disarm a police officer.
Both suspects were lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail.
“This is an isolated incident and there is currently no threat to the public,” the sheriff’s office said.
