Whether you’re planning to celebrate the season with sleigh rides or sweet hot cocoa, there is plenty happening in Sault Ste. Marie in the days leading up to Christmas.
Here’s some of what is on the calendar Dec. 16-25:
Candlelight Christmas
The Soo Theatre will present “Candlelight Christmas” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 320 E. Portage Ave.
Guests are invited to join early to hear the Prelude at 6:30 p.m., featuring the theater’s earliest orchestra and children’s chorus. The main program begins at 7 p.m. with the youth and symphonic orchestras, community chorus and more.
Admission is by donation.
Holiday Pop-Up
The Grillroom, 1520 Riverside Drive, is hosting a Holiday Pop-Up event from 4-9 p.m. on Dec. 19 and 20.
The evening will include a seasonally-inspired dinner menu, festive drinks and more.

Children’s Christmas Party
The Sault Area Art Center will have festive fun for local kids at their Children’s Christmas Party on Friday, Dec. 19.
The party, from 6-8 p.m., will have a special storytime and craft. There will also be cocoa, cookies and kids can drop off last minute letters to Santa. A gift wrapping station will also be available for a small donation.

Holiday Paint & Sip
Instructor Jon Stone will lead a holiday-themed Paint & Sip at the Sault Area Art Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20.
The cost to attend is $50, and all supplies are included. This class is free to military veterans. Participants can sign up at saultartcenter.com/classes.
Holiday Scavenger Hunt
The City of Sault Ste. Marie is bringing back its annual Holiday Scavenger Hunt from Dec. 20-23.
This year’s theme is “Where is Frosty?” The snowman will be hiding at different city locations every day. Participants can follow the daily clue (which will be posted at 6 a.m.), find Frosty and take a selfie with him. Then, email your photo to parks@saultcity.com for the chance to win a prize.
