The Detroit Lions didn’t disappoint in a game they were expected to dominate on Sunday, beating the Washington Commanders 44-22.
The Lions played from ahead throughout the game, opening up the playbook and the depth chart for many players on the roster to get involved by the end of the game. It’s hard not to have a renewed sense of confidence in the offense’s play, whether or not head coach Dan Campbell was calling the plays.
Let’s take a look at the performances of the Lions’ rookies in the Week 10 win:
Tate Ratledge
Rookie guard Tate Ratledge played a great game against a rather lackluster Washington defensive front. Ratledge and the rest of the Lions’ offensive line opened up large running lanes for running back Jahmyr Gibbs, and kept Jared Goff clean in the passing game on all 34 of Goff’s pass attempts.
Ratledge has the second-best overall blocking grade from Pro Football Focus in this game, sitting just behind Taylor Decker.
Grade: A-
Tyleik WIlliams
Rookie defensive tackle Tyleik Williams took a backseat to much of the action on Sunday, playing behind Alim McNeil, DJ Reader, and even Roy Lopez at times. Williams only logged four snaps before the Lions pulled the starters for the afternoon.
In his brief appearance, Williams didn’t make much of an impact on the game, as it was already out of hand.
Grade: D
Isaac TeSlaa
Rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa managed to see the field for more snaps than he’s had since the beginning of the season, catching his only target for 11 yards. His involvement doesn’t appear to be getting much of an uptick, barring an injury on the offense.
Grade: C
Dominic Lovett
Rookie wide receiver Dominic Lovett managed to see the field on offense for just a moment, but didn’t actually get involved.
Grade: Incomplete
