A man suspected of making an online threat against Wayne State University has been arrested, officials said.
Wayne State University Police Chief Anthony Holt confirmed Wednesday that the suspect was in custody. Holt said the man was arrested at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in Westland.
School officials said on Tuesday issued an alert after they reported receiving online threats to the university’s campus “and several other entities.”
They identified the man suspected of making the threats as Kyle W. Brown.
The case unfolded the same day Fitzgerald Public Schools in Warren cancelled its summer classes because of a threat.
Other threats involving schools in Michigan this year have resulted in arrests or charges.
In February, a St. Clair Shores man was ordered to stand trial for what authorities allege was a plot to carry out a mass school shooting.
In January, a man was arrested after trying to get into a Romulus school and firing a gun near the building.
