The Detroit Pistons haven’t won a playoff series since the 2007-08 season, when they knocked off the Orlando Magic in the second round of the NBA playoffs (before losing to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals). Since then, the Pistons have lost in the first round in 2009, 2016, 2019 and 2025.
The season after they fell to the Pistons, the Magic made it all the way to the NBA Finals, and the season after that, they fell in the Eastern Conference finals. Orlando hasn’t won a playoff series since, falling in the first round in 2011, 2012, 2019, 2020, 2024 and 2025.

Clearly, something has to give – one of the two teams will advance to the second round for the first time in more than a decade. Which one, though?
