Few predicted this title-game matchup at the beginning of the season, even as this year’s AFC championship game features the conference’s No. 1 and No. 2 seed.
The No. 1 seed Denver Broncos will host the No. 2 seed New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 25, at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. The game is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. ET and will be televised on CBS.
The winner of the game will advance to Super Bowl 60, with the Patriots looking for a record seventh Lombardi Trophy and the Broncos looking for their fourth.

The Broncos are coming off a 33-30 overtime win against the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round on Saturday, Jan. 17, in their first playoff win in 10 years. And though the top-seeded Broncos are one win away from reaching their ninth Super Bowl, they will be at a disadvantage with starting quarterback Bo Nix out for the rest of the playoffs after injuring his ankle.
In Nix’s place for the AFC championship game will be Broncos backup Jarrett Stidham, who has appeared in only four games over the last two seasons.
Though the Patriots are travelling and haven’t benefitted from the playoff bye week the Broncos got, they enter the game as favorites with MVP candidate Drake Maye under center. However, Maye didn’t exactly look like an MVP in the team’s 28-16 win over the Houston Texans in the divisional round, fumbling the ball four times in snowy conditions at home in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
