A Michigan State football reserve young running back will reportedly return for another season with the Spartans in 2026.
Michigan State redshirt freshman running back Zion Gist will reportedly return for the 2026 season. According to Connor Earegood of The Detroit News, Gist’s “advisers” posted on Instagram that he has signed a contract extension to return to Michigan State for the 2026 season.
Gist didn’t see any game action this past season and redshirted as a true freshman. He was twice named Scout Player of the Week this past year, and will have four years of eligibility remaining.
Out of high school, Gist was a three-star prospect from Frankfort, Ill. He will have an opportunity to earn playing time next year for the Spartans.
