Troopers and detectives conducted an investigation, according to MSP, which found the suspects were making purchases through various online marketplaces, meeting with the sellers, and paying for items with counterfeit cash.

Other police agencies in Livingston County and Oakland County had ongoing investigations dealing with counterfeit purchases, and the suspects are believed to be involved, according to MSP.

Police executed a search warrant Friday, May 23, at a home in Brighton Township which resulted in more than $100,000 in counterfeit money being seized, in addition to cellphones and a computer.

The investigation is ongoing, and state police expect to ask the Livingston County Prosecutor’s Office to authorize charges once the investigation is complete.
