Motor City Golf Club, set to debut in TGL in 2027, unveils its logo

Motor City Golf Club is revving up for its debut in TGL.

The Detroit-owned expansion franchise for the indoor golf league — a league founded in part by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy — has unveiled its logo, colors and markers ahead of its 2027 debut in TGL.

The Motor City Golf Club colors are dark blue and white, joining Detroit’s four major professional sports franchises that incorporate the color blue. The logo is circular, with a blue-and-white, checkered-flag pattern, paying tribute, of course, to Detroit’s automotive history. “Motor City Golf Club” and “Detroit” border the circular logo, which could double as a golf ball.

“We’re thrilled to reveal a new brand that embodies Detroit and takes a major step to bringing Motor City Golf Club to life,” Michael Hamp, team governor for MCGC, said in the logo announcement earlier this week. “We wanted the brand to feel like its home city while honoring Detroit’s pride, culture of design and innovation. We also aimed to establish an identity and team colors that stand proudly alongside Detroit’s celebrated sports logos. We couldn’t be more pleased with the result.

“We feel the MCGC logo represents the history of our city and sits uniquely amongst the other teams in the TGL landscape.”

Motor City Golf Club will be the first expansion franchise for TGL, which launched in 2025 with six teams, each consisting of four players. The league is based in SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Players include Woods, McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Rickie Fowler, Ludvig Aberg, Justin Rose, Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tom Kim and Patrick Cantlay, among others.

The team roster for MCGC hasn’t been announced yet. It’s unclear if the roster will include four players completely new to the league, or if there will player movement from other teams.

MCGC is owned by Middle West Partners, with the principal owners included Michael Hamp and Peter Hamp, the sons of Lions principal owner Sheila Ford Hamp, as well as Kevin Kelleher. Sheila Hamp and husband Steve also are investors, as are Denver Broncos owner and former Walmart chairman Rob Walton and former Rocket Companies exec Jay Farner, among others.

“Detroit is one of America’s great sports cities, and Motor City Golf Club brings a level of passion and pride that will elevate the entire TGL experience,” Peter Jung, CMP of TMRW Sports, which launched TGL, said in a statement this week. “That, combined with an ownership group featuring respected leaders and icons across professional sports makes this a powerful addition to the league.

“Motor City Golf Club represents exactly what TGL sees in its future — a community-driven team that will inevitably grow TGL’s momentum and connect new fans to the game.”

Other teams’ ownership groups include such notable figures as Woods (Jupiter Links Golf Club), Serena and Venus Williams (Los Angeles Golf Club), Steph Curry (The Bay Golf Club), Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank (Atlanta Drive GC), New York Mets owner Steve Cohen (New York GC). Other league investors include Shaquille O’Neal, Shohei Ohtani, Josh Allen and Justin Timberlake.

The TGL season runs from January through March, which weekday matches broadcast on ESPN platforms. LAGC, with Morikawa, Rose, Tommy Fleetwood and Sahith Theegala, won the 2026 championship last month.

TGL was the last stage where Woods competed, in March, before he was involved in a rollover accident near his Florida home March 27. He is facing DUI charges, and is reportedly in rehab in Switzerland.
