Monroe County Sheriff's Office investigating school threat

On Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 17, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Triumph Academy in Frenchtown Township due to reports of threats written on a bathroom wall.

“While student privacy rights prevent me from sharing specific details, what I can say is that we take all threats seriously,” Triumph principal Nicol Graves wrote in a letter to families.

According to the letter, the school’s encouragement of a “hear something, see something, say something” strategy helped in this situation, as the threat was reported by students.

Monroe County Sheriff Sgt. Jason Miller said they received the call shortly before 1:45 p.m. He said it remains under investigation.

This is the second threat incident at Triumph Academy in five months. The first was a threat made via text messages in September 2025.

Triumph Academy declined to comment and said they would not be making a statement.
