Missing teen located safe in Litchfield after overnight search

LITCHFIELD — Following an extensive, multi-agency search June 17, a fourteen-year-old girl from Litchfield has been located safe.

Litchfield Police Chief Dan Roberts said the teen approached him while he was on patrol just before 7 a.m. June 18. She was returned to her family’s home.

The teen had been reported missing by her parents the evening of June 17 when she didn’t return home after going out for a run, according to authorities. An exhaustive search effort continued into the early hours of June 18.

The search included multiple law enforcement agencies, K-9 units, volunteer bloodhounds and several fire departments, with crews canvassing the area.

Officials did not release additional details about where the girl had been during the search, or the circumstances leading up to her disappearance. The case is considered resolved.
