Sunny and calm conditions are forecast for Michigan this weekend ,with a slight warming trend heading into next week, but snow is still ahead in the eastern Upper Peninsula.
“Snow showers are expected to develop this afternoon (March 27) with light accumulations save for 1-3″ possible across the east half of the U.P. Warmer temperatures will make a return by Sunday (March 29),” the Marquette National Weather Service said on X on March 27.
Up to 4 inches of snow is expected, with the heaviest in the eastern U.P. between Grand Marais and Sault Ste. Marie. In the Lower Peninsula, trace amounts are forecast, according to the National Weather Service Probabilistic Precipitation Portal.
Temperatures will remain cool, with highs in the southern Lower Peninsula in the 40s-50s, and northern regions and the U.P. in the 30s-40s.
“Colder today and tonight (March 27). Widely scattered snow showers tonight (March 27) then dry with a new warming trend this weekend,” the Detroit NWS said on X on March 27.
For those attending a “No Kings” protest on Saturday, March 28, mostly sunny and dry conditions are expected across Michigan, though snow may develop in the late morning to early afternoon hours in the U.P.

“Partly to mostly sunny skies will kick off this chilly Friday (March 27) across northern Michigan,” the Gaylord NWS said on X on March 27. “Chances for snow showers move in late today and tonight (March 27), continuing across the eastern U.P. on Saturday (March 28). Temperatures begin to warm late this weekend into early next week.”
