GAYLORD — The Michigan State Police are seeking a man allegedly involved in an attempted home invasion and assault in Bagley Township.
At approximately 9:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, troopers responded to a residence on Seneca Trail where the homeowner reported that a man knocked on the door but stood out of view. When the homeowner opened the door, the man claimed to work for a power company and stated that the homeowner’s account would be shut off the next day. He asked to enter the home and when he was refused entry, the man allegedly assaulted the homeowner.
The homeowner managed to shut the door and lock it.
The suspect left in a 2009-2010 black, older-style pickup truck, possibly a Chevrolet or GMC, with LED headlights. The suspect is described as a young man in his 30s, approximately 5’10” to 6′ tall, with short brown hair, no facial hair, a deep raspy voice, and a tattoo on his left upper arm near his bicep. He was wearing a black polo shirt and khaki pants.
The Michigan State Police urges residents to stay vigilant, lock their doors and not open the door unless they know the person. If anyone has information that could assist investigators, contact the Gaylord Post at 989-732-2778. For reporting suspicious activities or emergencies, call the Gaylord Regional Communication Center at 989-732-5141 or dial 9-1-1.
