Will Michigan State football get back to the postseason in 2025? The experts in Vegas have them right on that cutline.
The opening win total over/under numbers have been released for the 2025 season, and Michigan State is right on the bowl eligibility mark. FanDuel has Michigan State listed at 5 1/2 wins, which essentially means if it goes over it is bowling but if it goes under, it will miss bowl game eligibility for a fourth straight season.
Of Big Ten teams, Michigan State was in the bottom half. However, it was in the mix with a number of other conference teams at 5 1/2 as the over/under. Rutgers, UCLA and Wisconsin were also listed at 5 1/2 wins. Minnesota was right above the Spartans at 6 1/2 and Maryland was right below at 4 1/2.

My Pick on the Spartans’ Win Total?
I slightly lean to the over with Michigan State, and would honestly be very disappointed if the Spartans went under this number. Michigan State desperately needs to get back to a bowl game after missing the postseason the last three years, and I expect that to happen.
The schedule includes a number of toss-up games, but in order to get to the over on this bet, I would like to see Michigan State open the season 3-0. From there, I’d feel comfortable knowing they’re going to win enough of those coin flip games to get to six wins and reach the over.
