Michigan State basketball offers brother of former Wolverine, 4-star C Tristan Reed

Michigan State basketball was never able to land former big-time recruit Tarris Reed Jr., but it appears it’ll make another attempt at landing a big man from the family.

Tristan Reed, the younger brother of Tarris Reed, announced on Thursday that he had received an offer from the Spartans. Reed is a center prospect in the 2026 class, and he is listed at 6 feet, 8 inches and 210 pounds.

Reed is a four-star prospect with a recruiting rating of 96.93 in 247Sports’ composite rating system. Reed ranks as the No. 6 center in 247Sports’ rankings for the class and is listed as the No. 72 player overall in the class.

Michigan State is the latest big-time program to extend an offer to Reed, with nearly 10 schools extending him an offer at this point in his recruitment. According to 247Sports, he also holds offers from Iowa, Kansas State, Michigan, Ohio State, Mississippi State, Missouri and Saint Louis.

Tristan Reed’s older brother Tarris was once a Spartans recruiting target, but he landed at rival Michigan. After two seasons with the Wolverines, Tarris Reed transferred to UConn. He will have one more year of eligibility remaining with the Huskies this season.
