Great Lakes Coast Guard, partners discuss summer readiness and response

Personnel from the Coast Guard Sector Northern Great Lakes met with the Northern Michigan Area Committee on May 27 in Traverse City to discuss maritime readiness and response capabilities.

According to the Coast Guard, around 42 federal, state, tribal and local agencies, representatives from industry and academia, and the Canadian Coast Guard all took part in the discussions, which focused on new and emerging technologies, salvage and marine firefighting. There was also a demonstration of an underwater unmanned autonomous vehicle.
