Michigan State baseball loses three starters to NCAA transfer portal

Michigan State baseball has lost a trio of its starters to the NCAA transfer portal, marking major changes within the program. After a 24-32 season, it may be necessary for the Spartans to see some changes. The starting middle infield of Ryan McKay and Dayton Murphy both hit the portal, while outfielder Isaac Sturgess joined them.

Sturgess, the best of the bunch, batted .323 in 2026, adding four home runs. Murphy finished his season with a .267 average, while McKay struggled in 55 starts this year, hitting .230 on the season.

The Spartans, needless to say, are tasked now with filling some massive holes within their starting lineup before the 2027 season.
