A man convicted of human trafficking a woman at a Warren hotel has been sentenced, officials said.
A Macomb County Circuit Court judge last Wednesday sentenced Aaron Streety to 7 years to 20 years in prison for human trafficking – subjecting a person to forced labor or debt bondage that resulted in serious bodily injury, seven years to 15 years for operating a human trafficking enterprise that resulted in injury or commercial sexual activity, and seven years to 15 years for human trafficking – forced labor resulting in injury or commercial sexual activity, according to the county prosecutor’s office.
The 41-year-old Detroit resident was also ordered to have no contact with the victim.
His attorney, Camilla Barkovic, was not immediately available for comment on Tuesday.
The case
Streety pleaded no contest to the three human trafficking charges in June, officials said. In Michigan, courts treat no contest pleas the same as guilty pleas.
Authorities alleged Streety and another man, Bernard Harris, 25, also of Detroit, were human trafficking a woman at a Warren motel in 2023.
Officials said the woman escaped from the two men on Nov. 3, 2023, after they forced her to perform sex acts with multiple men in exchange for money.
Harris pleaded no contest in June 2025 to operating a human trafficking enterprise that resulted in injury or commercial sexual activity, human trafficking – forced labor resulting in injury or commercial sexual activity, and prostitution.
He was sentenced in March to 9 years to 20 years in prison, prosecutors said. They also said he is serving four years related to a federal count of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in the Upper Peninsula and northern Michigan.
“While no sentence can undo the harm the victim endured, I hope there is some measure of comfort in knowing that the defendants are being held accountable and will spend years behind bars,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement. “Our office remains committed to standing with survivors, pursuing justice, and protecting our community from those who seek to profit by exploiting others.”
Human trafficking cases in Michigan
Streety and Harris are among the latest in Michigan to be accused of human trafficking.
In March, a Sumpter Township man accused of sex trafficking young girls and having sex with at least one of them was charged in U.S. District Court.
In February, three people accused of operating a human trafficking operation in Metro Detroit were charged.
In December, a Detroit man convicted of sex trafficking was sentenced in federal court to 17 years in prison.
