EAST LANSING — A 23-year-old East Lansing man has been charged in connection with the Dec. 14 shooting death of a St. Johns man at an apartment complex in East Lansing.
Peiyun Qin faces charges of open murder, armed robbery and various weapons counts, court records indicate.
Feng Lin, 37, was shot to death in “the parking lot area” of the Arbor Glen Apartments, the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office said in a Dec. 16 news release. Qin is being held without bond pending further hearings in the case, and a hearing to determine whether he should be ordered to stand trial was tentatively set for Dec. 29, officials said.
Qin entered not-guilty pleas at his arraignment, the prosecutor’s office said. No attorney was listed for him in court records.
East Lansing police said officers were called to the housing complex, near the intersection of Lake Lansing and Abbot roads, about 1:30 a.m. Dec. 14. Lin was pronounced dead at the scene, they said.
The Michigan State Police Lansing Crime Scene Response Team is helping in the investigation.
