LANSING — A Shiawassee County man faces eight felony counts and one misdemeanor charge in connection with a shooting incident that injured a man on June 19 in Lansing.
Thomas Michael Evans Jr., 22, of Woodhull Township, faces two counts of assault with intent to murder, one count each of resisting and obstructing police and discharging a firearm at a building and other weapons counts stemming from the mid-day shooting of a 40-year-old man in the 3400 block of West Mt. Hope Avenue, court records indicate.
Officers responded to reports of shots being fired and learned a short time later that a man had showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound to the hip, Lansing police said in a June 19 news release. They described the man’s injuries as non-life-threatening.
The Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office announced the charges against Evans on Monday, June 22, noting Evans also is charged in connection with an alleged incident the previous day, June 18, “at the same residence and with one of the same alleged victims.”
He faces three felony counts, including felonious assault, in connection with that incident, court records indicate.
A magistrate set a $350,000 cash bond for Evans during an arraignment hearing on June 20. Evans entered not-guilty pleas. He asked for a court-appointed lawyer, and no specific attorney was listed for him in court records.
