LANSING — Traffic will be shifted to the southbound side of U.S. 127 on Tuesday, April 28 as part of this year’s leg of a multi-year improvement project along the freeway corridor in the Lansing area.
This year, the Michigan Department of Transportation is repaving a section of the freeway between Interstate 69 and a point just south of Lake Lansing Road. The work entails spreading asphalt over crushed concrete, various bridge improvements and upgraded drainage.
All traffic is being shifted to the southbound side while crews are working on the northbound side. Later this year, that configuration will be reversed while the southbound lanes are being repaved.
“This traffic control shift will require lane and ramp closures on northbound and southbound US-127 between Saginaw Street and I-69,” MDOT said in a news release on April 24. “Please follow the posted detours. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to seek alternate routes.”
The traffic shift is expected to be completed on Tuesday, April 28, MDOT said.
