The Lions wrapped up their 2026 NFL Draft by adding their third defensive lineman, nabbing Tennessee defensive tackle Tyre West in the seventh round with the 222nd overall pick on Saturday, April 25.

Playing on a deep defensive-line rotation, West didn’t get as many snaps as most four-year players might have, even though he saw an uptick in playing time. But he showed promise pressuring the pocket from the edge, even though he likely projects as a rotational interior lineman at 6 feet 1 and 278 pounds.

This doesn’t fall on West’s shoulders, but the lower grade is a reflection of Brad Holmes failing to draft a safety to replace Kerby Joseph, who has serious knee issues.

Grade: C.
