Allen Park — Even though safety Kerby Joseph has not been around the Detroit Lions’ practice facility as he deals with a personal issue, head coach Dan Campbell is still confident that he’s on the same recovery timeline as fellow starter Brian Branch.
Campbell said on the opening day of camp that he hopes Branch, who’s recovering from an Achilles injury that ended his 2025 season, can begin practicing toward the end of training camp or early September. Campbell also noted that he doesn’t expect Joseph, who’s dealing with a lingering knee injury that limited him to six games last season, to be ready to play in Week 1.
On Tuesday, Campbell said that Joseph’s rehab is “coming along very well.”
“I still see [Joseph] on the Branch plan, if that makes sense,” Campbell said. “And Branch is doing well too. So those guys, we’re talking about on down the road, the season’s already begun, but I like where Kerby is at.”
Joseph and Branch have both been spotted working off to the side at practice with the team trainers, running up the outdoor hill.
