It's official! MSU announces hiring of Max Bullough as co-DC, LBs coach

It’s official — Max Bullough is back with the Michigan State football program.

Michigan State football made the well-known secret of Bullough’s return to the Spartans official on Thursday morning. Michigan State football posted on its social media account that Bullough is joining new head coach Pat Fitzgerald’s staff as the Spartans’ co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

The news of Bullough leaving Notre Dame and return to Michigan State under Fitzgerald came out last week. Bullough was also seen at the Michigan State basketball game earlier this week so it was clear this official announcement was coming soon.

Bullough has served as a graduate assistant at Cincinnati and Alabama before joining Notre Dame as their linebackers coach the past two seasons. He, of course, was also a star player for the Spartans during the Mark Dantonio era — helping lead Michigan State to the 2013 Big Ten championship and Rose Bowl appearance.

Bullough is considered a great hire for the Spartans by many (including myself) so this is great news to see this officially in place. He will be working alongside Joe Rossi as the co-defensive coordinators next season.
