'I'm sick of him': Crowd gathers for No Kings protest in Bedford Twp.

BEDFORD TWP. — A crowd of about 70 people gathered at the Bedford Township Government Center for Saturday’s No Kings protest.

Dana Brown, co-leader of Dundee Indivisible, said they’re taking a stand to protect democracy.

No Kings protests and rallies are taking place across the country to protest President Donald Trump’s $30 million-plus taxpayer-funded parade for the Army’s 250th birthday, which also has been billed as a birthday celebration for Trump.

Terri Hall said this was her first time coming out to a protest.

“I’m sick of him. I don’t trust him. I think he’s dishonest, he’s a corrupt criminal,” Hall said of Trump.

The crowd chanted “Love not hate makes America great,” as vehicles honked driving by.

“We are democrats, we’re republicans. You know the whole spectrum is here,” said Justin McCullough, a member of Bedford Indivisible.

Mike Driehorst said he was happy with how many people came out to share their voices.

“I’m pleasantly surprised by the turnout and the age range, so its good to see the community come out and support what they believe in,” the 57-year-old said.

Other chants included “Show them what democracy looks like, this is what democracy looks like.”

Grace Rabbitt, 35, also said she was happy with the turnout.

“We obviously live in a very conservative area, so I’m really excited a lot more people showed up then I thought,” she said.

For 21-year-old Aaron May, he said he couldn’t not participate.

“I’m here because I feel like I cant just sit down and not say anything about what’s going on,” May said. “We’re literally living under what is late stage capitalism that is turning into fascism.”

While there were two members of the sheriff’s office on scene, Pamela Hess, another Bedford Indivisible organizer, said the protest was to remain peaceful.
