While some Michigan residents are dealing with floods, others are dealing with ice.
Temperatures hit 79 degrees in Cedar Point, Michigan, on Friday, April 17, according to the National Weather Service, and yet ice accumulated in piles along the shoreline of Burt Lake on Saturday, April 18.

Kaleb Kindsvatter, 23, lives on the east side of Burt Lake in Cedar Point. He said he’s seen piles of ice up to 10 feet tall along the shore. The piles are made of ice chunks up to 5 inches thick that are floating in from the lake.
The ice has affected waterfront features like docks. Kindsvatter said he’s seen one neighbor’s hoist totaled and another’s in danger of being pushed up against a tree and crushed.
On other parts of the lake, including West Barbra Avenue in Indian River, photos showed water filling the street and surrounding houses.
Kindsvatter encouraged his older neighbors to ask their younger neighbors for help as they work to repair ice and flood damages. He also said there are many companies, such as Indian River Sports Center where he works, that can help with issues on the water.
“We’re in it together, and if you can give back and help them out, great. I know there’s some of us who were helping each other out during the ice storm last year,” he said. “In terms of damage … there are companies out there that even if you don’t think they’re able to help, just call them and ask because nine out of 10 times up here, they’ll probably help you out.”
Near Burt Lake, temperatures are expected to drop into the 20s, with rain and snow showers possible, according to the National Weather Service.
