Hostess Ding Dongs recalled for potential mold

If Hostess Ding Dongs is a favorite snack, check your pantry.

Select packages of Hostess Ding Dongs are being recalled by its manufacturer for possible mold contamination.

J.M. Smucker, based in Orrville, Ohio, issued the voluntary recall of the Hostess Ding Dongs after an investigation found “a piece of equipment created conditions that could support the development of mold in the product prior to the expiration date,” according to a post on the company’s website.

J.M. Smucker is recalling various package sizes of 6-count twin packs and 10- and 16-count cartons of Hostess Ding Dongs with expiration dates ranging from Aug. 30, 2025, to Sep. 2, 2025, specific UPC and lot codes. The equipment issue, the company says, was “present for a limited period and resolved in a timely manner.”

If you have packages of Hostess Ding Dongs, consumers should check them against the UPC and lot numbers as well as the best by date.

Consumers with packages that match the above should contact J.M. Smucker at hostesscakes.com or call 800-483-7253 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The J.M. Smucker, which counts Uncrustables, Jif Peanut Butter and Folger’s coffee among the brands under its umbrella, acquired the Hostess brand in fall 2023, according to Reuters, in a $5.6 billion deal that included debt.
