We’re back with another group of outstanding high schoolers in Livingston County.
Each week, high school principals and staffers in Livingston County share their nominees for Student of the Week with The Daily. We share those honorees online Fridays and in print Sundays.
This week’s students were nominated for academic achievements, personal growth, setting an example and a commitment to service.
Ava Foran, Brighton High School
Ava, a senior, has a remarkable ability to make others feel seen, valued and comfortable simply by being herself. Whether through student leadership, HOSA, Unified, LINK, or co-founding the Community Impact Club, Ava has consistently looked for ways to make Brighton High School and the community around her a better place.
Ava openly reflects on the work she put into overcoming personal challenges during her sophomore and junior years, and that growth has shaped her into someone with extraordinary empathy and emotional intelligence. Her passion for healthcare comes from a genuine desire to bring hope and comfort to others during difficult moments, and it’s easy to see that she’ll make a tremendous difference in the lives of future patients.
Makenna Archibald, Fowlerville High School
Makenna, a senior, is an outstanding example of leadership, dedication and character. She’s heavily involved in the National FFA Organization and currently serves as PM Vice President, demonstrating a strong commitment to both her school and agricultural education. Makenna consistently goes above and beyond in the classroom, embracing a rigorous college-prep schedule while showing a genuine desire to learn and grow.
Known for her kindness, responsibility and tireless work ethic, Makenna represents the very best of the student body and serves as an excellent role model for her peers. Her leadership, humility and determination show what it means to be a true Gladiator.
Olivia Linski, Hartland High School
Olivia, a junior, is a hard-working, determined and thoughtful student whom any teacher would love to have in their class. She challenges herself with high-level classes and has been a strong asset to both our varsity cross country and track teams since freshman year. Along with her excellent ability as a runner, Olivia is part of the National Honor Society.
This year, Olivia was also recognized by the Hartland Optimist Club for her hard work and dedication to academics, and for being an all-around kind, caring and respectful student. We’re so excited to have Olivia at Hartland High School and cannot wait to see what her future holds.
Carly Molargik, Howell High School
Carly, a senior, is an exceptional student who demonstrates leadership, dedication and academic excellence. She’s enrolled in multiple AP courses while maintaining a high GPA, consistently challenging herself and approaching her academics with focus and determination.
Beyond the classroom, Carly serves as one of the news editors for the student newspaper, is the senior class president and participates in We the People. She’s also a member of the girls’ swim team, balancing athletics alongside her many academic and leadership commitments. Carly’s strong work ethic, leadership and involvement throughout the school community make her a wonderful representative of Highlander Nation.
Brooklyn Haines, Pinckney Community High School
Brooklyn, a freshman, started her high school career on an impressive note — earning all A’s while also making a positive impact on those around her. She’s known for her warm smile, caring personality and the genuine kindness she shows to classmates and staff. Her positive attitude helps create a welcoming environment at school, and Brooklyn consistently demonstrates respect, encouragement and compassion toward others.
Austin Hopp, Kensington Woods Schools
Austin, a senior, is a member of the Early College Program and is working toward his Michigan Transfer Agreement Certificate through Washtenaw Community College. He plans to transfer to Michigan State University to study computer science with a specialization in digital forensics. Over his years at Kensington Woods, Austin has shown tremendous growth in both academics and character.
Austin is a cast member of the senior production “Macbeth” and also served as the show’s sound designer. For his Senior Exhibition, he’s exploring the topic of artificial intelligence, researching how deepfakes can be identified and creating an informative video to help the public better understand how to spot them.
