As travelers impacted by Spirit Airline’s closure scramble to rebook canceled flights, Frontier is offering up to 50% off fares and an unlimited summer flight pass for $199.
Travelers can get up to 50% off Frontier base fares on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday flights booked at least 21-days in advance up until Nov. 19. All days of the week are eligible for a 10% discount with no advance purchase required. Tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. on May 10.
Customers can use promo code “SAVENOW” when booking at flyfrontier.com or on the Frontier mobile app, according to the news release from Frontier. The discount is for the base fare and does not discount taxes and fees. The discount does not apply to blackout travel dates:
A Frontier GoWild Summer Pass is also available for $199 and applies to GoWild bookings made by Saturday, May 9, at 2:59 a.m. The promotion applies to travel within the continental United States from May 2 through Sept. 8. Some blackout travel dates require an additional $99 one-way fee: May 21, 22, 25; June 25, 26, 27, 28; July 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; Sept. 3, 4, 7. Purchase of the pass requires a valid Frontier Miles account. Each booking requires the user to pay $0.01, along with taxes and fees. Full terms and condition can be found here.
According to the news release from airline, Frontier flies at least 11 routes previously flown by Spirit to and from Detroit Metropolitan Airport:
Frontier flies more than 100 routes previously flown by Spirit around the U.S. and plans to add nine additional routes and 15 additional daily flights across 18 former Spirit markets, according to the news release.
“Spirit Airlines played an important role in expanding access to affordable travel and bringing more low fares to more people,” said Bobby Schroeter, Frontier’s chief commercial officer. “We recognize this is a difficult time for their customers and team members. Frontier is making discounted fares available to help people keep their travel plans and maintain access to low fares.”
Following the closure, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy said American, United, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, Allegiant, Frontier, Avelo and Breeze have agreed to support impacted Spirit customers in different ways, USA TODAY reported.
