Former Spartans defensive lineman standing out with new team this spring

A former Spartans standout is getting some high praise from his new coach at a Big 12 school.

Former Michigan State defensive lineman Jalen Thompson received some early positive feedback this spring from his new head coach at Arizona State. Sun Devils head coach Kenny Dillingham called Thompson “super savvy” and a “super intelligent kid” in a recent media interview.

Thompson entered the transfer portal in January and is entering his final year of college football at Arizona State.

Thompson played three seasons for the Spartans, appearing in 31 games during his Michigan State tenure. He recorded 66 tackles (13 for loss), 4.5 sacks, 4 passes defended and 1 forced fumble.

It’s no surprise to hear Thompson is already standing out with the Sun Devils. He was slated to again start for the Spartans this season and I would anticipate he’ll be a factor at Arizona State this upcoming season.
