A former Spartan is causing havoc for quarterbacks at an elite level so far this year.
Pro Football Focus posted a list of the top 10 leaders in quarterback pressures this year among power four players, and a former Spartan cracked the list. Zion Young — who now plays for Missouri — is listed at No. 10 nationally among power four schools with 21 quarterback pressures this season.
Young is in his second season with the Tigers after transferring to Missouri following the 2023 season. He played his first two seasons at Michigan State and is in his final year of eligibility this season with the Tigers. Young has recorded two sacks through five games this year, but clearly has made an impact in making the quarterback feel pressured.
The Spartans pass rush has been an area of concern this season (and last year too) so it’s frustrating to see Young experiencing this kind of success elsewhere. There’s no doubt that Michigan State’s defense would be better off if Young was on the Spartans’ roster this year.
