Former Spartan legend addresses team after Monday practice

One of the most prominent players of Michigan State’s run in the late 1980’s, Tony Mandarich found his way back to campus on Monday.

The Oakville, Ontario, Canada native was a standout offensive lineman for the Spartans from 1984-1988, winning the 1988 Rose Bowl. A two-time All-American and Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, Mandarich is known as one of MSU’s best.

On Monday, it was revealed by Pat Fitzgerald that Mandarich spoke to the team, giving his regards and preparation for the upcoming year.

Something Fitzgerald is bringing back to the program, and has been lost so far this decade, is embracing the Spartan history and what the format players and coaches provide the program with.
