Former Michigan State star wide receiver Nick Marsh received a rude awakening during his first spring practice with the defending national champions.
Indiana opened its spring practice this week and Hoosiers coach Curt Cignetti shared a story about the Spartans’ former star wide receiver. It came in the form of a shot at the Spartans (or at least the previous coaching staff at Michigan State).

Cignetti said Marsh “learned what getting your ass ripped is all about” after he wore gold cleats to the Hoosiers’ first practice. Cignetti went on to take a slight jab at Michigan State, stating he doesn’t know “if that happened to him very often” with the Spartans.

Marsh transferred from Michigan State to Indiana this offseason after two years with the Spartans. He was, hands down, the Spartans’ top wide receiver in both seasons, which maybe prompted Cignetti to think he needed to be humbled in his first Indiana practice.
Cignetti also spoke highly of Marsh’s ability and why they pursued him in the transfer portal, but clearly, he is not a fan of flashy gold cleats. That has been confirmed after Day 1.
