Michigan Slurpee lovers, cool off from the summer heat with the frozen drink for free to celebrate 7/11 Day.
National 7-Eleven Day, also known as National Slurpee Day, is marked annually on July 11, a nod to the brand’s name. Michigan customers can enjoy free small Slurpees throughout the day, and Speedway Rewards members can even get a special tongue tattoo with your Slurpee in Detroit.
The nationwide convenience store chain is celebrating its 98th birthday on July 11.
“The Slurpee debuted in 1966. While the machine already existed, 7-Eleven modified the machine made by Knedlik, which was used to make the Icee,” the National Day Calendar’s website says. “After modification, 7-Eleven branded and licensed the frozen drink under the name Slurpee. Advertising executive, Bob Stanford, gave the sweet, icy drink the name for the sound it makes as it is sucked through a straw.”

The Slurpee-activated tattoos are S-shaped and when placed on the tongue after partaking of the frozen drink, appear in blue, green, red or pink. Participating Speedway stores also are giving away tattoos today.

To take advantage of the promotion, stop in at your local participating 7-Eleven, Speedway or Stripes store to enjoy your favorite small Slurpee flavors at no cost.
7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members can also get a free Slurpee by scanning your rewards app July 11 for a free small Slurpee coupon valid through July 31.
