The long-awaited relaunch of Electric Ramen is finally happening.
Mark Skelton and his wife, Emily Underwood, opened Electric Ramen in 2022 to fast fanfare at 5584 E. Grand River Ave. in Howell. It specialized in modern, pan-Asian twists to ramen dishes, influenced by Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Indian and other styles of cuisine. Skelton previously worked as a chef at Brighton Bar and Grill.
But the magic ended too soon in November 2024, when the restaurant announced on social media it would temporarily close for ceiling repairs. The post mentioned relocating was an option, but there have been no updates since, except an announcement that Colasanti’s Express would open in the building, which once held Middletown Market.
However, a note on the restaurant’s website recently announced the business will reopen in Brighton this summer, and signage has appeared at 8690 W. Grand River Ave. next to Brighton Tux. The note touts “a refreshed space, a new menu, and a few surprises we can’t wait to share.”
“We’ll be starting with a soft opening to ease back into the groove,” it continues, “followed by a grand opening to officially welcome you back. It’s been almost 10 months since we closed our doors, and we’ve been working steadily behind the scenes to rebuild something even better.”
Skelton did not immediately respond to request for comment from The Daily.
