Detroit police are seeking the public’s help in finding a person of interest in a fatal shooting in the city’s historic Indian Village neighborhood, where a man was shot in the back of the head just before midnight on Aug. 3.
According to police, the victim − a man in his 50s − was not a resident of Indian Village, a tony neighborhood lined with brick mansions built for Detroit’s business and industry tycoons more than a century ago.
Circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been released. Police have only said that this shooting was not random, and that the victim was seen with a person of interest before he was found dead in the 3400 block of Burns around 11:50 p.m. on Aug. 3.
“It was an isolated incident. It did not involve residents of the neighborhood,” Detroit police spokesperson Jackson Vidaurri said, stressing: “This is not some crazy thing going on.”
According to Vidaurri, the victim and the person of interest knew each other. It is not known if police have recovered the gun that was used in the shooting.
