Detroit police release video of suspect in DDOT bus shooting

The Detroit Police Department has released video of a suspect they believe shot a passenger on a DDOT bus, asking for community assistance pertaining to the suspect’s identity or information related to the crime.

Police said the shooting occurred on Wednesday, July 2, at 7:25 a.m., in the area of 8 Mile Road and Mt. Elliot Street. The one victim, a 24-year-old male, is currently being treated at a local hospital.

The suspect and victim appeared to have an altercation beforehand, according to Jasmin Barmore, DPD media relations director.

The video shows the male suspect appearing calm and casual, wearing a white t-shirt, black pants and baseball cap, and carrying a yellow backpack.

Any information can be reported to the Detroit Police Department’s 11th Precinct at 313-596-1140, CrimeStoppers at 1-800-Speak Up, or Detroit Rewards TV.
