The Lions’ EDGE position has been hit hard by injuries in the past couple seasons (see Aidan Hutchinson, Marcus Davenport). Thus, adding a medically-clean prospect like Eric O’Neill as an undrafted free agent seems like a wise move.
Here is the Eric O’Neill medical report:
Medical concern level ranges from 0 (no concern) to 10 (extreme).
(Ages in parentheses are at start of 2026 season and are factored into the concern level. Injury info and ages based on available public information and are unverified – subject to update. Games played data courtesy of sports-reference.com)
Eric O’Neill, Rutgers EDGE (23-24?)
ESPN ranking: Matt Miller’s No. 427 overall player
Medical Concern Level: 1/10
There are no reports of injuries for O’Neill, and he had an impressive 47 consecutive starts to finish his college career. The only slight bump in concern level is his likely older age, but he is medically clean.
In his final two college seasons, he had an impressive 15.5 sacks and 28 tackles for loss.
